These are Ptarmagin, a bird common on the road in Denali. This is in the very northern part of the park around Healy, which is in the Sub Artic zone.

This sign was eaten by bears, tasty sign. The bears liked the salts in the varnish used in the sign. To keep the sign from being completely eaten the Park Service drove nails around the signs edge.

This Red Fox was a real showman. He was not shy and walked to within 15 feet of the bus. Watching him pop his head out for the brush and prance around the place was fun.

This moose was big. Her back was a foot over my head. She was that big and tall. Moose in the lower 48 are not this big. I was lucky she, the moose, was not in a threaded mood that day. This location is just south of Cantwell on Highway 3.
