Good morning David. I don't know anything about how laws are made. U got a good youtube video to share on that ? I have read where some bills have been made to alleviate responsibility for accidents when crossing the yellow line to go around mopeds but didn't pass. There was a bill in NC made back in Feb 13 to make mopeds have insurance... don't know what the update on that is. Some states have made them have both. NC is behind. 3 major problems exist. NC allows moped operators to ride our roads on motorized vehicles without knowing the first thing about road laws. 2. NC allows those who have their right to drive on the road, continue driving on the road ! 3. According to NC's strict ( no crossing over the solid yellow line law ), we are forced to be stuck behind them. These 3 scenarios are beyond any logic my imagination can come up with. NOW after speaking with Sgt *****of the Highway Patrol and seeing the NC general statutes allowing mopeds on fully accessed controlled highways ( I think that means business highways and not interstates ) , I am bewildered they are allowed there as well. They can go down Highway 85, 64, 109 etc and create havoc with every commercial vehicle in the country who tries to pass them ! What terrible thing has happened to safety ?
