Shadow 500

This is not the connector in the previous picture. This is the ignition connector on my 1983 Shadow 500. The igniton switch went bad on that AND the connector was melted on this one unlike my 1983 Shadow 750 where it had just discolored from the heat. Two bikes, both 1983 models with the same thing happening to the connector. Strange coincidence. Wonder whats making it do this. Of course its a high amperage draw but from where and why or is this something that happens over time. Most bikes dont make it to 30 years old. Notice the female metal connector is a bit discolored but not corroded or disfigured in anyway. Both bikes are not fused between the ignition switch and the connector to the back of the fuse panel but looks like now Im thinking about putting a fuse there !
