These guys have received cave diving training and treat ice as any other overhead environment. They cut their entry hole close to the beach were they can stand up and clip on stage bottles. They then clip off a line to an ice auger (used in climbing ice falls) and run their lines to whereever they want to go in the quarry. These guys are very familiar with the quarry as they use it to practice valve drills, out of air emergencies, etc, etc. They conduct their drills while maintaining neutral buoyancy on a ledge at about 30 feet. Mike has been very impressed with their skills and hopes to join them on several more practice dive to improve his own skills.
