January 21 & 22, 2006

An ice diving course - a few of us were crazy enough to cut a hole in the 12 inches of ice and jump into the water under it this weekend.

I had completed one of the required dives a couple of weeks earlier, so I was able to skip the cold dive on Sunday - the temps dropped from 5C on Saturday to -10 (-20 with the windchill) on Sunday.

The poor boys were covered with a layer of ice within seconds after surfacing. Items left laying on the ice were quickly frozen into it, as if they were always there (you can ask Brent's butt about that!!). And if you didn't take the regulator off your tank as soon as you could, it was frozen in place!!!

This is definitely character building!!
