Early today, someone asked me how my yesterday PAD was lit.
Because, it is really simple and very accessible to everyone, I'll explain it to anyone who wants to know.
For that shot, I used a simple halogen desk lamp (IKEA type) and a white pillow as a reflector.
I was sitting on a chair in the hallway (or corridor?) with the pillow on the floor between my feet.
The hallway was completely in the dark and the only light I used
was of the lamp pointed at the pillow and not directly to my face.
I was looking at the pillow and it's the reflected light coming from the pillow that lit my face and arms.
That's why it's a soft light and has a soft gradation in the shadows.
I used a pillow because that was the first white thing I came accross. Anything white would have worked.
I always shoot in RAW format, and that has saved me a reshoot.
This SP was shot in B/W but when I saw it on the screen, I wasn't happy and I turned it in color.
Yes, you can do that with the Canon's "RAW Image Task" program. I've descovered it yesterday.
I have removed few visible details of my trousers using the "cloning Stamp" in PS. (I was wearing a black trouser and shirt)
Apart from that and a reframing, no other processing were applied, even no levels or colors balance.
To finish, I don't have any photography lighting pretentions, I am just trying things and this one looked interesting to me.
I am experimenting and since I learnt so much through you all, I am very happy to share this with you,
Thank you so much for taking the time to look at my pictures
and to leave all those very encouraging comments! Kim
