The existing main building of Railway Department Park was constructed in May 1918. Originally, it was occupied by Railway Department Office. As same as many buildings in tropical or subtropical location, there is a verandah at the outside of the building to resist the direct shinning to indoor area, In early of 20th century, many Japanese architects returned to Asia after they completed their college live in Europe. Therefore, we could see many buildings in European style which constructed in this period. Except the exterior style of the building, we could see the ceiling and wall are decorated with plaster sculptures in European style. The ceiling is also arched, which is rarely seen in Taiwan.
