Originally, it was the ancestral hall of Cheng's Family in Yilan Town centre. It was constructed between 1921 to 1925.
Due to urban redevelopment, it was disassembled in 1997 for further restoration. In June 2001, it was restored in the park.
In English, "Guang" represents the construction cost of shrine was donated by many member of Cheng's Family.
"Hsiao" means the Cheng's family treated "Filial piety" as a serious matter.
