It is hard to imagine that there is a such wonderful park in Central District, Hong Kong Island. Originally, it was the site of Victoria Barrack. The British Military handed this site to Hong Kong Government in 1979. Then a part of this site was occupied by a junior school until 1988. After a series of consultation and planning, the park was officially opened on 23rd May, 1991. The opening ceremony of Hong Kong Park was held by The Governor of Hong Kong, Sir David Wilson.
Hong Kong Park is the joint project of Urban Council and Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club. The building cost of Hong Kong Park is 398 million Hong Kong Dollar. It covers an area of 80 000 square meter. The facilities of the park include Forsgate Conservatory, Edward Youde Aviary, Museum of Teaware (Flagstaff House) and vantage Point as well as other sports and arts facilities.
