Hobe Fort was the remained scenic spot when I was visited Tamsui in 2014. Originally, I planned to visit several places in Tamsui. However, my plan was destroyed by adverse weather. The Hobe Fort was built in 1888. Although the French fleet was defeated in The Sino-French War (1884–1885) at Tamsui, it demonstrated that the force of Qing Dynasty was insufficient for coastline defensing. Therefore, the first Governor of Taiwan LIU Mingchuan was ordered to build the Hobe Fort.
