The woodside was built in 1904 as a staff quarters for senior European staffs of Taikoo Sugar Refinery and Taikoo Dockyard. In 1921, a basement was added for carport. However, the woodside was destroyed in World War II. In 1947, it was refurbished and became the staff quarters again. After the closure of refinery and dockyard, the Woodside was handed over to government in 1976. It was converted as Woodside Biodiversity Education Centre and have been opening to public from 2012.
