The Sacred Way (also known as the Divine Road) is part of the href="https://pbase.com/khanh_hwang/ming_dynasty_tombs">Ming Dynasty
Tombs and is the road to be used by the Emperor (known as the Son of
Heaven) to return to heaven. This road is lined with 36 stone href="https://pbase.com/image/63201226">statues of which 12 are
human and 24 are animals (real and mythical). One end of the road
contains the Shengong Shengde Stele Pavilion where inside is a 50 tonne href="https://pbase.com/image/63201238">tortoise carrying a stone
tablet. Walking along the Sacred Way provides a great chance to soak in
the beautiful mythical scenery.
