Ma On Shan

Not actually the first time that I did section 4 of the MacLehose trail that goes over the saddle of saddle ridge - the literal translation of Ma On Shan 馬鞍山 (702m), but the difference being I wasn't walking through low clouds this time.  What a difference that makes... the better weather provided spectacular views of the steep mountain peak and views of the islands around Sai Kung.

 

After meeting in Sai Kung for breakfast we then cab to Shui Long Wo for the start of the slow and muddy trail which lead up towards Ma On Shan peak.  Once at the saddle, Tony and I decided to make a push up the steep and slippery slopes to the peak (a further 180m ascent) whilst the others decided to continue with the trek down.  After catching up, we detoured from the MacLehose trail to descend back down to Sai Kung town.
