3rd December 2004Walking Lamma Island «n¤X®q is considered by many as a easy one hour family walk around the island on paved walkways. And for years I've always thought about it that way, that was until that day. Having a whole day off (sort of a project away day) with my project team members, we decided to make the most of it (but really, to try to work up an appetite for all the seafood we where about to eat) by going for the highest point on Lamma island - Stenhouse peak at 353 metres above sea level. We started off in the usual village that the ferry dropped us off and ate a late breakfast. After a couple of minutes we where at our first beach, eating - again. An hour after that, we had pretty much finished the family hike and was way too early for our seafood smorgasbord (lunch) so we set our sights at Stenhouse peak. However, finding the starting point was a bit of a bummer. After a few false starts (paths) we finally found the (paved) path near the Tin Hau temple. That took us to the pagoda half way up the mountain. From there it was pretty much straight up with on a very small (I mean the one-foot-in-front-of-the-other type) path full of bushes and boulders. From the top, the view is amazing, but only myself and Terence went up. From there, it was just a hike/tumble/run down to the Sok Kwu Wan and Rainbow seafood restaurant where our colleagues had already ordered and the food was waiting.
