Great Wall

The Great Wall of China (萬里長城) is the world's longest man-made structure and supposedly the only man made object visible from the moon.  Originally built around the 3rd century BC with further walls being built until the 17th century, it stretches 6,352 km (about the radius of the Earth) East to West approximately through the middle of modern day China.
 
After taking a one hour trip from Beijing to the Mutianyu section of the wall we made our way up the wall via a cable car offering great views of the surround countryside.  Apart of the sheer beauty of the wall and it's surroundings, what also made the place seems peaceful was the lack of every day tourist.  We had the entire section of the walls pretty much to ourselves.
 
It's also the place that my brother Hy proposed to Janine.
