18th April 2003Hidden in Kathmandu city (somewhere) is a huge stupa of Boudhanath, supposedly the world's biggest stupa (though not the tallest). After entering what could only be described as a side street, you find yourself awed at the size of the Boudhanath stupa. The stupa is completely surrounded by buildings (effectively hiding it from the outside). Once inside you feel like you are in a street in Lhasa, and walking around it takes you along quaint street vendors on the left and the huge stupa on the right (assuming of course you are correctly walking clockwise around it). You definitely get the feel of Tibet and it's capital Lhasa that Boudhanath is usually associated with and not the Kathmandu on the "outside" of the complex.
