Robert and I take a look at Prairie, but she’s high and muddy once again. We decide to check out Clear Creek, and drive in to the Clearwater (which we didn’t know was there) along a wellsite road west of Butte, then walk up to Clear Creek. The Clearwater itself is very high and brown, but Clear Creek is, as it’s name suggests, clear. Very difficult to fish, very little cover. We do, however, spot some very decent Browns (?) feeding in a quiet pool near an old farmstead, also near the confluence with the Clearwater. As it turns out, there is much easier access than the 45 minute walk in, you can drive right to the confluence. We don’t catch any fish.
