North Ram with Robert. We intend to explore the road into the dead-end bridge – it’s barricaded so we decide to walk! End up hitching a ride with a young army guy, and promptly roll his Bombardier! No injuries, other than to our rods – I break my SAGE, as does Robert (altho we don’t learn this until later). After a wild & wooly ride, we turn around at the fourth barricade – meet a convoy of hillbilly 4 wheelers who claim to have got down to “the Chutes” the day before.
Off to the White Cabin stretch – beautiful day, 52° water, we fish from 1:00 – 6:00. I catch 13 cutthroat, ranging up to 15”, on a variety of flies – hopper, trude, BWO, Robert gets 3-4 fish, similar flies – we end up getting a total of 9 fish out of one tiny pocket near the “Old Reliable” pool. Meet a guy who claims to have caught 80 fish the day before using “Silver Vibrax” #2. He also sez was a big hatch earlier in the a.m.!
