Well, it’s late in the year to go flyfishing; isn’t it? Anyhow, it’s Robert and I off to the Clearwater, ignoring the clear omen that fishing season was over and hunting season beginning – the ruffed grouse in my front yard! Great day nonetheless; unseasonably warm. End up @ confluence with Alford Creek – lo & behold, I manage 2 whitefish (on a muddler minnow!) in the first pool, in the first 10 minutes. Robert and I flog the heck out of lots more nice water (we’re even wading the Clearwater!) but zero action. On way back, see herd of 8 mulies (2 bucks) ducks & lots of geese near Stauffer, I almost stalk a hawk thinking it was a ruffie. And who knows, maybe there’s time for one more trip to the North Ram…
