Try Gull Lake again – once again it’s far too nice. I move the blind somewhat further south (where the bottom is much muddier)-a few flights of mallards come in in the evening, but all is pretty quiet. I notice earlier that a large group of birds are on the pond across from Our Lady of Victory Camp. Best times? 9-10:00 a.m. and the hour before sundown. Waste of time in the early afternoon unless the type of day where birds are flying all day. Pick off a ruffed grouse on the way into the blind, nail one nice fat and fully plumaged greenhead.
