November 27, 1999 Esk R., Nigger Stream

Day dawns considerably brighter; after some discussion, it’s back down into the Esk at the confluence with the Nigger – day turns overcast and windy – pretty tough sledding – but Bob spots (what later is described as a “beast”) in classic riffles – 1st cast – bang/gone – lost to wind knot 4” below the strike indicator; later land a nice 4 ˝ # rainbow blind fishing in a riffle (get photos!)…back up the hill (yikes!); that’s the day; back to Kaikawaka for the nite – BBQ shish-ka-bobs- superb. Hosp.
