Off to Tom Jackson’s about noon; run into Barry Mitchell and Tom in the yard – Barry sez that last Thurs., had his best day ever on Stauffer (!) 60 fish between he and some guy from Olds (plus missed a bunch) – using #14 House and Lot, with beadhead Pheasant Tail on 18” of tippet. It’s busy on Tom’s today – run into 4 FF’ers, Terry from the TU committee included; I end up down stream of the group - good action at 1st pool below water hole (using Barry’s method) – 2 for 12 or so; lots of hits on the nymph; see a couple Green Drakes; things slow down tho behind the group, so I book it about 3:30. Back to town, mow the lawn, Tar and I are on the Red Deer about 7:30 - drift thru town; still somewhat high, better visibility, but see nary a rise. Fair #’s of caddis at dusk. Overhear 2 FF’er’s: “9 in 2 nights” “hooked 6, landed 5” 18” to 24” etc. (all this 10 days ago). Message from Robt. Prairie is fishable, fish are hitting stone’s.
