Cool, overcast, showery. Start @ B for w. pool, fish up to Bob S’s, meet with Ken Short. I meet Robert back at Graf’s. Nice stretch, including Burrington’s easily reachable through the meadows. Don’t see a single adult salmonfly on this cold, calm afternoon, but miss a ½ doz. fish (1 good one). Ken and I both land fish @ Scammell’s – his a 15” ‘er, mine “smaller” – turns out to be only fish I catch on Royal Wulff – otherwise all misses on Elk Hair Salmon), Robert and I wait for 1 ½ hours @ Haagsma’s, for Ken, who is landing 4 – 5 fish and losing a big one @ Qually’s. He keeps one for supper – great, with venison from last fall’s deer. Robert had quiet night @ Graf’s, misses a few. Quare when the salmonflies return to lay eggs.
