Leave work early, intending to head for Jackson’s, but sure as heck, about 10 minutes before I get to Stauffer, a vicious thunderstorm cuts loose; wild winds, heavy rain, and there goes the dry fly fishing. Meet a nice old Chinese couple, she heads down with spinning rod and stool, he reads a book. “Not as good as it used to be” he sez. The river is slightly muddied (but not bad considering the downpour) – water’s still 54° but no further surface action. Miss one, see another golden flash jump clear – but that’s it… more frustration, but “bad day fishin’ is better than a good day @ work”.
