Weather about the same. Spring about 2 weeks or more behind schedule. Victoria Day Holiday. My neighbour John Schildroth and I decide to float from Canyon Ski Hill to Joffre Bridge; small hassle at Canyon – policy is not to let you leave vehicle there, but they make an exception, and off we go. On the water about 2:00. The river is quite muddy, as it turns out, no action on the short (2 hours) drift – pretty good current, tailing wind. My new anchor somehow comes unglued! And, I leave my new thermometer behind. Tough day. The 20# anchor works great in holding the boat in midstream. We’re at the bridge about 4:30; this would make a great float in August when the goldeye are happening.
