Off to Qually’s about 9:30 a.m. Inspect their new cabin. Find some morels (black) in the usual places. Beautiful, hot sunny day, windy, occ. high cloud. The Creek is looking good. Plentiful salmonflies now, they’re really starting to hatch. Hushs appearing, I actually see a nymph crawling on surface of big midstream rock. Between 10 and 2 however, not much happening. Catch my first fish of the year (nice 12 ½” brown) on an Elk Hair Salmon! Miss a big one and one other. Ken gets 7 ½” on nymph near the pipeline crossing. Have a beer with Ken, stop @ Stauffer, E/W bridge, on way home. TT fly fisherman from Olds “nothing rising but a good day – caught lots” advises that you fish the Little Red above Cremona, Falling Timber Creek lower down. Sez they’re like Prairie “skinny 20” browns!” hmmm.
