Leave town about noon; 2 ½ hours later Tar and I are at the lake, where there are about 8 guys in tubes/boats working a midge hatch, not much luck in fooling the trout for anyone. Weather continues cool and unsettled. I see lots of big fish, catch none. 2 young guys from Rocky are there (“fished Alford Lake with Ron Manz yesterday”) – one guy claims 6 fish for 12 hr. day on the water; his pal with fishfinder on the tube fares not so well. “Leech pattern fished dead drift…2 fish on 2 casts earlier.” Brief flurry right at dusk, I can’t fool the wallowing risers tho. 52° water.
