I’d been out to Fuhrer’s place on Saturday, and Prairie was looking good (unfortunately no time to fish). However, there’s been heavy rainfall in the west country the last couple of days, so when I sneak out of the office I head to Stauffer. Even “Old Reliable” is pretty high and muddy at the B for W bridge, so I head up to the E/W bridge – go upstream. Some bugs around, but nothing for surface action in the 52° water. Run into Doug DeWitt on the stream – also former client Keith McLaughlin, who’s heard of a 9 pounder reported to the Stauffer Store. The leaves are about ½ way out on the trees; marsh marigolds starting to bloom. Note that once again – clear blue skies in Red Deer – clouds roll in by the time I get to Stauffer. (TT Robert – he was out last Wed. May 8 – 3 browns on Ming’s – 9”, 12”, 19” er!)
