Spring Fever. It’s not really spring, but it’s a fine sunny warm day to be on the North Raven. Water temp 39°; creek at “E/W bridge” is in good shape, notwithstanding some runoff. As predicted, no sign of trout. Are they even there? Off to Clear Creek/Clearwater confluence. Looks great – Clearwater is relatively low and clear! Clear Creek is 44°! Fishy looking spot, couple of other guys old tracks around. No trout. Trying nymphs and streamers.
Insects? Find tiny mayfly? Nymphs on N. Raven, a smallish stonefly nymph. Actually some surface activity on Clear Creek, tiny little brownish flys – downstream from cattle yard upstream, cattle are wrecking banks. Oh well. Spring is coming.
