John and I do 22x to mouth of Highwood. On at 10:30 a.m., we’re at the Highwood by 6:30 p.m., having spent at least 2 hours, walk/wade/lunch – the river is still pretty big – better visibility than last week (2 ½ ‘?) but still not great. It’s a beautiful – 23 °, calm, sunshiney day. We flog streamers and San Juans all day, for nought (I move a big fish above Policeman’s); fair numbers of bugs around but zero rising fish. Lots of rafts, canoes etc., not a lot of evidence that anybody else is catching fish either. Fair number of motors on boats. John and I both miss fish at the Highwood; I then have tasking of towing the craft upstream on the swollen and dirty Highwood…no easy task, involves rowing across at one point, walking up, rowing back across etc. Home by 10:30
