Wake up to heavy rain. No let up in sight. We head south to take a look at some local streams – the Lynx, Carbondale, Castle, etc. Contrary to reports from Beavermines Store, the Castle, et al are somewhat high, but clear! Note: See aggressive bull trout actually chase 10” cut around the pool after I hook the little guy. A few hoppers dropped off a bridge on the Westcastle provide immediate proof that the cutthroats are feeding! We start fishing about 3:30, and by 6:30 we’ve each caught 8 or 9 cuts up to 12” (using variously PDM’s, Green Drake, Adams, hoppers, and truder). Robert and I explore the slow stretch up near Westcastle ski area – excellent stretch of water. Big slow pools, lots of cover (like Stauffer lower down) but with good gravel bottom. Note: in addition to PMD’s see #’s of much larger cousins of same sort, almost as big as Green Drake. Rain still falling at days end. A fine and pleasant misery.
