I note that this is the 3rd consecutive June 1st that I’ve been flyfishing on the North Raven… This time it involves slipping away from work about noon (along with faithful retriever, Tar) and head to the E-W bridge – hot, muggy afternoon, threatening rain – perfect, but not much surface activity. Tie on a Green Drake and soon miss a brown. End up 4 for 10 (approx. 2 ˝ hrs. onstream); may have done better without the expected interference from Tar (who gets hooked twice, not seriously) – water 57°. The fish, as usual, are small, but I’m taking Gierach’s advice to focus on an appreciation of the smallest brown trout. Don’t see another fisherman all afternoon, and the pup had a great time.
