Finally, one of those magic Prairie Creek days where everything is right – it’s a mostly calm, sunny, 70° day, the water is about as clear as you could hope for, and the fish are risin’. I start out on Ming’s stretch at about 10:30; Robert joins me about noon; by 6:30 I’ve landed 14 or so, Robert a dozen or so, lotsa hits – we alternate, but you usually didn’t have time to finish a smoke before it was your turn, again. Fish up to 17” or so, 1 ˝ lbs. 56° water in a.m., 60° later on. Ken gets 21 browns, 4 whitefish, 1 brookie. I get “big” RM bonefish on a stonefly nymph (first cast with nymph gets one a little brown, a better fish later on). Stay at Robert’s cabin. Rat Lake later on – I get a chub! Little brookies.
