Peak Activity for this day:

A somewhat disappointing venture! Everything is right – it’s one of those rare warm, calm, overcast, drizzly days that I notice don’t happen all that often in June in Central Alberta. The river is fine for clarity, there are Green Drakes and other assorted mayflies around. I’m alone on Jackson’s and all I can do is “move” a ˝ doz. small browns – hook & lose another. Good PMD hatch about 3:00. I fish from 2:00 – 4:00. Run into Ken Short, Jim Wiseman, Bill Young. Later on I hear that Robert and Bob join the crew along with Tony Blake for a caravan to the lower stretch to watch for Brown Drakes – which do happen about 10:30, but which apparently only remain on surface for about 3 seconds before flying away.
