Do Jackson’s with Robert and Glen, all rivers out west currently blown out big time, “You shoulda been here Wednesday” sez the game warden who checks Robert and Glen. “Big hatch of green drakes” – oh well, I do not bad with Green Drake anyhow – 6 for 10 or so incl. nice 15” ‘er – do stretch up from “Shunda Creek” to large beaver dam; some pretty good water. Robert and Glen get 1 a piece. Glen & I then float tube Twin Lakes (avoid the smaller lake, contrary to reports from Doug Wood). Fish rise on cue @ dusk – are taking smaller mayflies @ first, then midges with a vengeance. Glen gets a nice (15”?) bow trolling Elk Hair Caddis, I get one small bow on comparadum. We’re then into the usual phenomenon of fish ignoring all pretenders – until I switch to one of Harrop’s #20 or 22 midge – then nail a feisty and fat 14 ½” ‘er, and a couple of smaller ‘bows. Glen also tries tiny midge with some success. Classic evening – dead calm, thunderstorms in distance.
