Pam’s in Vancouver at Gary’s wedding so I decide to head off camping for one weekend.
End up camped on the North Ram – by the campground near the ‘Indicator Pool.” At 10:00 the water is 46° and there’s a good hatch of Green Drakes (?) but no surface action. I move on to check out the North Ram upstream of the Forestry Trunk Road - very pretty, must come again when it’s warmer – no action. It’s now showering pretty steadily – I head north to take a look at Shunda Creek, where I spend a couple of hours in the middle of a feeding frenzy – little browns slurping up what looks like small pale morning - the fish ignore everything I try. The weather’s not improving so I head for home, stopping at Prairie Creek 0- the 1st pool upstream of Everdell Road bridge 0 manage to miss 3 on Yellowstone Hopper in the wind and rain. Prairie is 62° F!
