Saturday July 6, 1996 Red Deer River

John S. and I put in below the dam at about 1:30 p.m. – water level is up to 100 cubic metres persecond; from 59 cms last weekend – river looks pretty good where we put in, but it seems to get murkier as we go, thanks mostly to the brownish Medicine. Had intended to do the Bow this weekend, but they’re letting a bunch more water out at Bearspaw and Ghost dams, so it’s way up again, according to all reports. It’s a slow day
on the Red Deer; meet a lot of insect activity other than good number of “Yellow Sally” stoneflies during one day and some caddis at dusk – other than/smallish riser that I hook and lose, that’s pretty much it. John got a few whitefish deaddrifting little mepps-type spinners in same stretch last week.
