An interesting trip. Pam and I head out of Red Deer about 2:00 on Friday afternoon, head for Booby trapped cabin – someone already there. Find another spot approximately 2 km down. Start fishing after supper, about 8:00, head upstream. Tremendous conditions – storm moving in, calm, fecund … and some Greek Drakes flying admist the usual crown of North Ram may flies. I miss a good fish on 4th cast at pool, just across from campsite – end up going 4 for 6 or so – little guys… Pam actually goes 2 for 4 in a little pool further up! Royal Trude does the trick. We get back to camp just as a tremendous violent (and close!) thunderstorm, with short blast of large hail, intense rain. After the storm passes, I go 2 for 4 (10” ‘er) across the river. Tar has a great time, more rain overnight. Next a.m., looks like a great day, until I try to start the truck. Smoke curls out from under dash, electrical system goes dead! Good Samaritan seismic worker gets truck running, we boot it to Red Deer. Damn vehicles! I should have stayed out anyhow, get two truck next a.m.? Naah, but tempting.
