Peak Activity for this day: p.m.

With Mark MacNaughton and guide Eric Grinnell, Silver-Tip Outfitters; in his 16’ Lake Jon with 30 horse Johnson outboard with jet-boat attachment; head out @ Carseland bridge below the weir. Eric rigs up a couple of big rods with sink-tip lines and mid-size streamers (Bow River Bugger i.e. brown or blue flash). Despite a slow start, turns into a fabulous day – the wind stop calm until later on, and things really pick up in the afternoon. We end up hooking at least 50 fish (although landing perhaps half); all good sized fish, average close to 18”! Mark lands beautiful brown, at least 24”, Eric estimates 6 lbs. Eric proves to be an excellent guide, very knowledgeable, fascinating stretch of river, esp. through the Blackfoot Reserve. Loads of leaping, hard fighten, reel-screechin bows, with a few big browns thrown in for good measure. Streamers? Ya gotta love em! All in all a day for the books. Also, not counting numerous “hits” that fall short of full-fledged hookup.
