Peak Activity for this day:
Weather still unsettled, although some patches of sun today. We’re leaving tomorrow so where else to go but the Moose Wallow.
I have a truly strange experience this day – after having my Grey Wulff summarily snapped off (at the bottleneck of the pool), I notice a largish rainbow wallowing beside me. No net, but I try for his tail, but he gets away. I’ve seen the fly in his mouth, though, so I know it’s my fish. Lo and behold, the trout starts trashing its way further downstream, and after a 50 yd. chase, I grab him. Ken witnesses this latter part – assists in revival efforts (to no avail!). Heart attack?? – is 20” fish. Robert reports excellent day further up fishing to a pod of largish trout. Ken manages not to catch a large fish (I think – maybe he did get the usual 20” ‘er). Ken discovers good vantage point on far bank – “aquarium” effect. Note: I also hook and lose 18” ‘er.
