Peak Activity for this day:
With Robert, Ken and Denise at Chinook Lake. Chase big fish around Moose Wallow on Day 1 with no success. World Cup on Day 2 – wild action at “The Bank” – heavy PMD’s and PMD spinners (CDC works well – some larger fish caught). Day 3 – Excellent float trip on the Castle with guide Bob Lowe, meat inspector from Beaver Mines starting @ “Bruno’s” farm (Mill Creek) ending @ bridge S of Highway 3 (lower stretch) – on inflatable “Poacher” with fishing rack. Windy, some rain, mostly hot – Robert and I hook around 20 fish or so apiece, including some real good ‘bows and @ least 1 big cut; real wild country, seldom fished (no access except few locals). Day 4 – Westcastle River – lots of little cuts, including some hefty scrappers from bathtub-sized pools above (?) the falls – no guide whatsoever. Another good night at “the Bank”. Day 5 – Wednesday – Elk River – wild country – like Ram River. Great early action. Then slow – try small tributary with good action on good-sized cuts. Some good action @ Summitt Lake in p.m. Day 6 – take a look at Oldman on way back. Nice! Robert does well with nymph (including whitefish) – no luck @ Mindapore.
