I get Pam to drop me off at the boat launch at the BMX track, and I head out in the Scadden, equipped tonite with electric trolling motor. When John S. and I were out the other night, we saw three fellows in a Zodiac, up by the Country Club cliff pools, and they were making very good progress with their electric. I drift down to the Riverglen school pool, and mess around with the motor a bit. I find that I can make pretty good time upstream in a slow pool like that; also, I can put the motor in reverse, and just hang in the current, watching for rises. Speaking of which... the Riverglen pool is again strangely quiet, fish-wise. There are a couple of young fellas on the south bank who are getting the odd goldeye on spinning gear. I get to hear the moaning and bitching of a couple of rafters who floated too far on their air mattress, and who have to hoof it upstream barefoot along the Lion's campground stretch. I do actually land a nice goldeye from the fast water at the 67th street bridge, where I pull out. It's then a short walk back to the house to get the truck, thence back to the bridge to get the boat. Postscript: I happen to take a look at the Riverglen pool two days later, and there are a bunch of goldeye rising in the usual spots. Good to see.
