Camp with Ken and Jim at Nice Creek ford – great campsite. We get out on Friday night in time to check out the evening action – I mess with a few fish – incl. big fish @ confluence pool (kid @ Just Fishin’ claimed to have caught “4 ½ lb’er” the day before – could be close!) – Ken lands 3 fish (up to 12 – 14”). Big mating flight of mayflies @ dusk. Saturday a.m. Ken gets up early, gets 3 cutts on Nice Creek! Off we go after breakfast, hike down over the knob . Jim and I cut in after 15 minutes, Ken keeps going down. (Lots of guys on quads & bikes going down too). I fool a nice 15” ‘er with Green Drake in side channel in 1st ½ hour – miss a few later on, but basically it’s pretty slow. Jim has no luck but cast is improving – does get snapped off by 1 fish. Ken loses 1 good fish. Down to booby-trapped cabin after supper (Pork Tenderloin!) – Things are happening with the little guys at the pool where Robert and I once caught 25 fish – this time it’s only 15, but we all get in on the action. (Ken 8, me 4, Jim 3) – on Green Drake and Royal Wulff. Jim runs into guy doing book on mayflies – he ID’s mating mayflies as “Albertaes” ie. Slate Cream Dun (See Orvis Book).
