Head up to the dam with Tar, arrive about 7:30, using new technique from the Bighorn (sunken dry fly), get a fat whitefish on the (honest) first cast! Just below the warning boom across the river. About 10 casts later. I pick up a nice 15” brown on a sunken caddis. Hmm….things quiet down for a while; then at about 9:00 things really start to happen in the quiet run above the boom. In half an hour I hook 5, land 4 – all nice browns from 17” -19”, up to 2 ¼ lbs, all on tan caddis #16; definitely cold have had a few more good shots at risers close to shore if Tar hadn’t chased them.
