Day two on the ‘Horn! Today it’s me jess and Park with Dave, Buddy & Mac with Ron. It’s even hotter today (still no wind), and Dave opines that it’s more crowded than he’s ever seen it. There’s a veritable armada of drift boats, rubber rafts, canoes, you name it….the parking lot is full and the over flow parking is overflowing. The Trico spinner deal doesn’t work quite as well today (note technique – float essentially along the foam lines, often in mid-river, special attention paid to the faster water. Switch to black caddis pupa, and things start happening. I fish a bit more today; the riffles are very productive (I land 20 or so fish, many nice ones, a few in the 20” range; Dave fishes a little more as well and has good success on a hopper with tan caddis pupa dropper. More sight fishing as well. Once again, everyone gets some fish; lots of missed strikes, breakoffs etc. Mac and Buddy see a bear and a red fox, get chased by a stallion. Kids all complain about the swarms of black caddis. Another great day two. Tip: use forceps to yank line off nailknot tier.
