Float trip on Bow from Police to Mac with Glen - 1ºC, flurries, winds gusting to very strong at times, cold, grey – and a blast! River is very low (at times I actually “walk” the boat along), relatively clear (although guy & County Pl. sez “blown out” from Fish Creek on Wed.?). Lots of midge’s, good hatch of BWO’s starting at about 3:00 p.m. Only see on rise, tho. I get 2 fish – a nice 19” brown on brown Bow River Bugger (size 4 or 6) at 11:30, and a 14” brown in a side channel about an hour later. Discover that rowing with the current can do the trick in slow water. Side channel fish takes S.J. Worm. Naturally as soon as we pull out the boat and take down the rods, the wind goes down and fish are rising to small pale mayflies @ MacKinnon Flats. Tar behaves not too badly, even when coyotes start howling. Leave @ 10:00, take out about 8:00.
