I play an April Fool’s day joke on myself and go fishing. Need a new licence tho, and I end up @ Raven Store. No luck, off to Caroline Supplies. North Raven @ store bridge is high and muddy, as is Raven proper (very high). Alford Creek, tho, is clear as a bell, as is the Clearwater! Turns into fine afternoon, despite earlier wind. Water is 38°, a few small early stoneflies. No sign of fish. Move on to North Raven by Butte bridge, creek is relatively clear and low at its headwaters. A number of caddisflies (large, creamy orange) about, but too early for any surface feeding. Forgot my thermometer @ Alford Creek – so back I go. Time to send in the order to Dan Bailey’s.
