Peak Activity for this day:
Decide to check out the mouth of Prairie Creek @ Confluence with the Clearwater. Fine bluebird early spring day. Kind of spoils the illusion! Catch small whitefish in pool @ mouth, little brown hooked in next pool. Meet a family of bail fisherman near bridge, nice folks although lawbreakers. Hook 4 more RMW’s, 1 large sucker!? From pod in quiet pool @ bridge. Some decent water in this stretch. Then head up to trail Robert had mentioned, 300 yards north of Graf’s gate. Leads to a great spot – rock garden/cliffs. Yeehaw – land fine 15” (honest) brown @ 1st good pool – no other tracks around – good fight, see slides. Land another 10” brown in next pool – using “good ol” Rick’s Mink #14 exclusively. Leave early for RDC Ball … sigh…
Later hear of caddis hatch @ dusk on Vetch Creek and Spring Creek…
