Crowsnest River

The usual routine – sleep in a bit, watch “NHRA Today”, grab some breakfast and head for the river. Decide to try the Burmis stretch, notwithstanding the growing numbers of cottages, vehicles and people in the area. The slot up from the Tron Bridge is as reliable as ever – close calls with 3 customers. Up then across the meadow to the corner pool area – tougher wading than usual for this time of year, tho the river is up and has only a foot or two of greenish visibility. There are a couple of flyfishermen on the other side of the river; they move up. Dredge the wire worm and hook 3 fish in the best looking spots; one a gorgeous 16 “er – with a witness- FFF appears just in time to observe. I stupidly snap one off by hand trying to land him too soon 0 net would have been handy. Seem to have lost my Browning?! Manage to hook and lose another decent ‘bow further up before the river bends closer to the railway tracks. Note: hike from Burmis along the tracks might be productive…Literary note..interesting analogy between trying to get guides to fish and trying to get a hooker to kiss you (or so I hear!).
