First time out in ’91! Ron Manz mentioned that he’d been on Prairie and went 2 for 6 on a leech fished slowly in quiet pools, so I fish the stretch downstream from Fuhrer’s cabin. The Creek is in beautiful shape, low and clear. I try all the “right” stuff; bitch creek nymphs slow and on the bottom, but as usual no action. Great day, tho – warm, sunny & still… water temp on Prairie = 43°. Must check out Stauffer on the way home – note numbers of smallish stoneflies both here and on Prairie… try a dry fly upstream from B for W bridge but it’s still too early for any surface activity in the 49° stream. Pussywillows are just starting to come out. Run into spin-fishermen at both Prairie and Stauffer.
